T-Levels (Technical Levels) are a two-year qualifications designed for 16 to 19-year-olds as a progression route after completing their GCSEs. Developed in collaboration with employers, T Levels combine classroom learning with practical experience to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to succeed in the workplace.
The T Level in Health launched at Bedford College in September 2021, with the first cohort of 13 students starting their industry placements at Bedford Hospital in October 2021, as part of a pilot programme. These placements play a key role in helping students apply their classroom-based learning in real healthcare environments.
Students are supported as they transition into clinical settings, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of clinical and non-clinical departments. This approach ensures they not only build essential practical skills but also develop the confidence and professional mindset needed for future careers in the health and care sector.
